Hair Follicles

Blocked hair follicles are also called hidradenitis suppurativa or acne inversa, This condition can first be noticed as pimples on your skin that overtime can become painful and can turn into scars. This occurs when the shafts where the hair grows from, called follicles, get blocked.

These can change quickly and look different from time to time. Some common symptoms of blocked hair follicles include :

  • Bumps that burst and smell bad
  • Deep breakouts that hurt
  • In rare cases, can be skin cancer
  • Scars that may get thicker overtime
  • Spongy looking skin called tracts
  • Skin infections

There is no cure for blocked hair follicles, but treatment can make the flares appear less often.
